Maybe Hoodies ARE a bad idea to wear out and about!

A white middle aged woman who I know, mother of a college boy, who does a 7-11 kinda job says in her predominantly WHITE PART OF TOWN, too many WHITE boys wear hoodies, and the ones suspected of shoplifting tend to wear them.

She says they wear them close so not to be identified to the cash register cameras. She wont serve them until they pull their hoodies down and sunglasses off, so she can see their faces for purchases, along with the cameras.

She's very adamant that kids wearing hoodies are trying not to be identified in her camera controlled non QT convenience store. Her view is that they are up to no good!

Yaaayy! Yucky Pink Slime Maker suspends 3 of 4 plants.

LUBBOCK, Texas — The maker of "pink slime" suspended operations Monday at all but one plant where the beef ingredient is made, acknowledging recent public uproar over the product has cost the company business.

Craig Letch, director of food quality and assurance for Beef Products Inc., declined to discuss financial details but said business has taken a "substantial" hit since social media exploded with worry over the ammonia-treated filler and an online petition seeking its ouster from schools drew hundreds of thousands of supporters. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has decided school districts may stop using it, and some retail chains have pulled products containing it from their shelves.

Federal regulators say the product, which has been used for years and is known in the industry as "lean, finely textured beef," meets food safety standards. But critics call the product an unappetizing example of industrialized food production.    Read the REST of the STORY from HUFFINGTON

'Pink slime' to be dropped from some school lunches

It DOES look like dogfood!
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The lunch lady won't be serving up "pink slime" anymore at several school districts around the country.

Under a change announced Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, districts that get food through the government's school lunch program will be allowed to say no to ground beef containing an ammonia-treated filler derisively called "pink slime" and choose filler-free meat instead.

4 year old Canadian girl's drawing gets dad arrested.

One day last week at school Jessie Sansone's 4-year-old daughter drew a picture of a man with a gun. The teacher didn't like it, so she called Family and Social Services. If you think that's an outrageous overreaction, just wait.
According to the Calgary Herald, when Jessie went to pick up his daughter and his other children at the end of the day, he was handcuffed, arrested, and strip searched, as they looked for this gun. They did actually find one after they went and searched the family's home in Ontario ... only it turned out to be a toy. Yes, the only gun in the entire house was a toy gun

She didn't draw anyone shooting someone dead or committing another crime; she just drew a man with a gun. According to the Toronto Sun, the girl even told authorities it depicted her dad "getting the bad guys and monsters."

Do you find this father's arrest outrageous? What things have your children drawn that authorities might question?   Read the reactions...

VIDEO: Ex-McCain Strategist Admits a Palin Presidency Would Be "Frightening"

When a result happens that puts someone who is not prepared to be president on the ticket, that’s a bad result. I think the notion of Sarah Palin being President of the United States is something that frightens me, frankly. And I played a part in that. And played a part in that because we were fueled by ambition to win.

And I think that ambition to win, to victory is what drives people in politics. It is a chess match in a lot of ways, but that result in how we got there is something that troubles me a lot.”

Read this important viewpoint if you loved Palin and your candidates lost the 2008 election.

Note to Darla Jaye at you still wish Palin had won on that ticket?  Knowing then, what you do now, would you have felt the same just because she was an assertive woman with a lot of face time like you??

Missouri: Protesting the legislature's vote to reject Obama's contraception coverage mandate, nine female lawmakers cosponsored a bill restricting access to vasectomies except for men risking death or serious bodily harm. "In determining whether a vasectomy is necessary," the bill reads, "no regard shall be made to the desire of a man to father children, his economic situation, his age, the number of children he is currently responsible for, or any danger to his wife or partner in the event a child is conceived."

They're feeding PINK SLIME to your kids at school

pink slime beef

Like a horror-film villain, "pink slime"—the cheeky nickname for scraps of slaughtered cow that have been pulverized, defatted, subjected to ammonia steam to kill pathogens, and congealed into a filler for ground beef—takes a pounding but keeps coming back.

Last month, McDonald's announced it would stop using the stuff. But just this week, pink slime got a de facto endorsement from none other than the USDA, which—the online journal The Daily reported—plans to keep buying millions of pounds of it for use in the National School Lunch Program.

Read/AND WATCH more from Mother Jones....but will you tell your children and spoil their lunch?

KMBC: KC stores mostly DON'T weigh in on their practice of what's in their ground "beef."

Maybe you should skip "ground beef" and stick to buying more pricy 'ground roundsteak' and "ground chuck".   And just buy kosher but expensive "Hebrew National" hot dogs which are never on sale.   Ask your butcher if their hamburger supplier mixes pink slime into their ground 'beef'.

AMC Theaters Rob us Blind at the Snack Bar. Gets SUED!

Joshua Thompson loves the movies.

But he hates the prices theaters charge for concessions like pop and candy.

This week, the 20-something security technician from Livonia decided to do something about it: He filed a class action in Wayne County Circuit Court against his local AMC theater in hopes of forcing theaters statewide to dial down snack prices.

"He got tired of being taken advantage of," said Thompson's lawyer, Kerry Morgan of Wyandotte. "It's hard to justify prices that are three- and four-times higher than anywhere else."

American Multi Cinema, which operates the AMC theater in Livonia, wouldn't comment on the suit. A staffer at the National Association of Theatre Owners in Washington, D.C., angrily hung up the phone when asked about industry snack pricing practices.

Although consumer experts predicted that the case will be dismissed, it struck a chord Friday with area moviegoers, who said they're tired of being soaked on movie munchies.

"The prices are ridiculous," Rebecca Motley, 55, a self-employed Southfield physician, said while leaving the AMC Star Southfield 20.

Motley said she and her office manager spent $5 each for morning movie tickets and $11 each for soft drinks and popcorn.

"When I was a kid, $1 could get you into the movies and buy you a pop and popcorn. But not anymore," Motley said. "I don't know how kids can go on their own to a movie anymore."

Timothy Fells, 29, part owner of a Redford Township gym, agreed with Motley.

"Movie concession prices are extremely high, and that's why I don't stop at the snack bar very often," he said while leaving the AMC theater in Southfield.

Thompson didn't want to be interviewed because he doesn't want any notoriety, Morgan said. But Thompson said in his lawsuit that he used to take his own pop and candy to the AMC in Livonia until the theater posted a sign banning the practice.
On Dec. 26, he paid $8 for a Coke and a package of Goobers chocolate-covered peanuts at the Livonia theater -- nearly three times the $2.73 he paid for the same items at a nearby fast-food restaurant and drug store, the suit said.

The suit accused AMC theaters of violating the Michigan Consumer Protection Act by charging grossly excessive prices for snacks.

The suit seeks refunds for customers who were overcharged, a civil penalty against the theater chain and any other relief Judge Kathleen Macdonald might grant.

Two consumer lawyers predicted that Macdonald will dismiss the suit.

"It's a loser," said Gary Victor, an Eastern Michigan University business law professor. He said state Supreme Court decisions in 1999 and 2007 exempted most regulated businesses from the Michigan Consumer Protection Act.

Added Ian Lyngklip, a nationally known consumer lawyer in Southfield: "Movie theaters are regulated, so the lawsuit won't go anywhere"

Victor, an avid moviegoer, agreed that snack prices are excessive at theaters. That's why he shuns the concession counter unless he's with a date.

Griping about excessive prices at the theater concession is a time-honored tradition, says Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for , a movie industry website.

"But like high airline prices, it's just one of those things that we've become accustomed to because we don't have any control over it," he added.

Although movie ticket sales are down -- 1.2 billion tickets were sold last year compared with 1.6 billion in 2002 -- he said a difficult economy mainly is to blame, not snack prices.
To cope with the issue, some consumers eat before or after they go to the movies, or resort to smuggling.
Fells said he sometimes smuggles Gummi Bears into the theater to save money.

Kristy Belanger, 20, a real estate secretary from Redford Township who showed up at the AMC in Livonia on Friday to see a movie with her boyfriend, concealed two bottles of Pepsi in her purse.

"I did it to save money, and I feel like I did," she said, adding that what she saved on Pepsi enabled her to buy a $4.74 serving of nachos to share with her beau.

Who listens to Rush Limbaugh anyway?

The nastiness of right-wing media has a way of turning everyday people into objects of partisan hatred. The latest such unwitting celebrity is Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student whose advocacy for contraception coverage captured the attention of Rush Limbaugh.

The radio host demonstrated characteristic charm and decency when he misrepresented Flukes stance, called her a “slut” on national radio, and then suggested that she (and millions of other women) make a sex tape for him.

Limbaugh’s vicious comments earned rebukes from the presidents of both Georgetown and the United States: The former issued a thoughtful and wise statement on the matter, and the latter called Fluke to offer his support. Their gracious behavior not only highlighted how crass and nasty Limbaugh is, but it also raised the question: Who are the 15 million people who listen to this guy?
