So many stories you've missed.....check em

Yes, well, that's predicted.  The GOP could have done so much better, but then today's GOP isn't my father's Republican party.   Guess the GOP hijackers couldn't agree on the right wing-nut during the primaries.  I sense the loud and boisterous lack of excitement and hope we notice that on election day.  What an empty suit to shill for the billionaires!

Crime Ridden Camden NJ to shut down its police department and start over.    Police union claims union-busting

In the latest example of a cash-strapped municipality taking drastic measures to deal with swollen public sector liabilities and shrinking budgets, the city plans to disband its 460-member police department and replace it with a non-union “Metro Division” of the Camden County Police.

Backers of the plan say it will save millions of dollars for taxpayers while ensuring public safety, but police unions say it is simply a way to get out of collective bargaining with the men and women in blue.

“This is definitely a form of union-busting," Camden Fraternal Order of Police President John Williamson told FoxNews.com. “This method is unproven and untested, to put your faith in an agency that doesn’t even [yet] exist.”

Rupert Murdoch Orders Prince Harry Naked Pictures Published In Warning To British Hierarchy

LONDON -- By letting his top-selling U.K. tabloid run photos of a naked Prince Harry cavorting in a Las Vegas hotel room, some say media mogul Rupert Murdoch was warning Britain's establishment that he could still shake things up.

British officialdom has largely turned its back on Murdoch because of the phone-hacking scandal that has badly tainted his media empire over the past year. So even though Murdoch's The Sun newspaper framed its decision to publish the nude pictures as a defense of press freedom, some observers saw the move as a feisty message from the tycoon.

"Not only was The Sun showing Harry's bottom, Murdoch was mooning the Establishment," said journalist Jane Merrick, whose article in The Independent on Sunday alleged that Murdoch personally ordered the paper to run the photos in a phone call with Tom Mockridge, the chief of his British newspaper unit, News International

Marijuana Legalization Supporters Raise $3 Million In Washington, Colorado

Aug 25 (Reuters) - Campaigns to become the first U.S. states to legalize marijuana for recreational use in Washington and Colorado have raised $3 million ahead of a November vote, far outpacing the opposition.

Proponents of pot legalization in Washington state have raised nearly $2 million since the initiative qualified for the ballot in January, and about $1 million in Colorado since its measure earned a place on the ballot the following month, according to the most recent state campaign figures.     The whole story, from Huffington post, including COMMENTS

I can't imagine that the feds will EVER decriminalize pot.  There's a fair list of people who would donate to Congressional campaigns to keep pot illegal:   the drug cartels, the big dealers, the cops, the prison industry, the lawyers.

Fox News is following its well established pattern of underreporting stories that don’t appeal to its conservative base, instituting a virtual blackout of Rep. Todd Akin’s (R-MO) controversial — and widely condemned — comments about “legitimate rape.”
While CNN and MSNBC — the two other main cable news channels — led with the Akin statement, Fox steered clear of the comments completely until 9:19 AM, referencing them in a loaded segment with Karl Rove without playing video of his remarks. The network didn’t air the remarks until 12:10 PM — showing the the clip well after Republicans (including GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney) harshly condemned the GOP Senate candidate from Missouri. Below is a comparison of cable news mentions of “Akin” from Monday at 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM:
Fox News has has a long history of offering slim coverage to stories that could disappoint conservatives including, the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and passage of New York’s historic same-sex marriage law.

Voter ID Laws are Such a Transparent GOP Ploy to Steal the Election that Even Ordinary Facebook Users Understand It!

Voter fraud is so small there is actually no reason to require voter ID with photos when one looks at the minimal number of fraud cases ever found (unless you lived in Chicago 60 years ago). The only purpose is to keep the poor, the elderly, African-Americans, many legal Hispanic voters and anyone else that doesn't fit the criteria of being a right-wing Conservative.

Israeli TV:  Netanyahu wants to hit Iran Soon

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is determined to attack Iran before the US elections,” Israel’s Channel 10 News claimed on Monday night, and Israel is now “closer than ever” to a strike designed to thwart Iran’s nuclear drive.

The TV station’s military reporter Alon Ben-David, who earlier this year was given extensive access to the Israel Air Force as it trained for a possible attack, reported that, since upgraded sanctions against Iran have failed to force a suspension of the Iranian nuclear program in the past two months, “from the prime minister’s point of view, the time for action is getting ever closer.”
Asked by the news anchor in the Hebrew-language TV report how close Israel now was to “a decision and perhaps an attack,” Ben-David said: “It appears that we are closer than ever.”

He said it seemed that Netanyahu was not waiting for a much-discussed possible meeting with US President Barack Obama, after the UN General Assembly gathering in New York late next month — indeed, “it’s not clear that there’ll be a meeting.” In any case, said Ben-David, “I doubt Obama could say anything that would convince Netanyahu to delay a possible attack.”
