White House says Obama will stick with Biden as running mate

By Amie Parnes - The Hill 08/16/12 12:35 PM ET
President Obama has no intention of getting rid of Vice President Biden as his running mate, the White House said Thursday.

Republicans are being “ridiculous” and are trying to “distract attention” with their focus on Vice President Biden and his controversial comments earlier this week, White House press secretary Jay Carney said.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) earlier this week said Obama would be better off replacing Biden with Clinton as his running mate. McCain said he did not expect that to happen, however. He said he thought Clinton hoped to run for president in 2016.

Asked about McCain's remarks Wednesday, Carney said: "One place I would not go for advice on presidential running mates is John McCain."

Dump Joe Biden? Nah

Howard Kurtz: Sorry, Sarah, Obama isn't putting Hillary on the ticket

The dump-Biden movement is getting a lot of play at the moment.

Which is remarkable, given that it’s based on a total fantasy.   Kurtz analysis on GOP Troublemaking fm The Daily Beast

Give me a break- I cannot believe it! The Dems hear race in everything. It is truly amazing and very, very sad!
  •  There is a great deal of racial overtone in America.  There always has been but with Obama's election, it has very much become more focused.  A great many people have been beside themselves since election day.  They have not gotten over it.

I get the emails from my middle aged Southern friends, and the cartoons.  Not always framed in whispered tones.   But there is code being put out in conservative dialogue designed to play to stereotypes with carefully chosen word choices and TV ad visual selections.  The dems don't "hear race in everything".  But in a lot of things.  And you're right about one thing, it is very, very sad.

Lets quit blowing smoke up each others rears, okay?

And when some guy says he can't stand Obama so he's going to vote for the rich guy who wants to pick his pocket, ask him to name 5 things Obama's done that he didn't like!   And when he stutters something about "Obamacare" which he heard on TV, ask him "Which part of Obamacare don't you like"?
