Good stories you may have missed...

 Speaking of Armageddon...

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's prime minister and defence minister would like to attack Iran's nuclear sites before the U.S. election in November but lack crucial support within their cabinet and military, an Israeli newspaper said on Friday.

The front-page report in the biggest-selling daily Yedioth Ahronoth came amid mounting speculation - fuelled by media leaks from both the government and its detractors at home and abroad - that war with Iran could be imminent even though it might rupture the bedrock ties between Israel and the United States.   More from Reuters...

Civil War in the US:  2016.  A military scenario written by a guy at Ft. Leavenworth!

Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles.

At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.” It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army's University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an “extremist militia motivated by the goals of the ‘tea party’ movement” seizing control of Darlington, S.C., in 2016, “occupying City Hall, disbanding the city council and placing the mayor under house arrest.” The rebels set up checkpoints on Interstate 95 and Interstate 20 looking for illegal aliens. It’s a cartoonish and needlessly provocative scenario.     More on this story fm The Washington Times

Petty Politics.

Republicans making serious hay about Biden mistakenly calling this the 20th (instead of the 21st) century.   But not a peep out of them when on Saturday, Romney introduced his brand new VEEP  running mate as "The Next President of the United States."

Instead, it would be better if the Republican candidates tell us what they have in store for us economically besides killing "obamacare" --some reform which is actually good for the country.  I wanna know if they're going to raise taxes on the middle class and cut Medicare benefits for people who've been paying into it all this time.   And cut Pell Grants for college students. And do to the country what Romney did to infrastructure in Massachusetts.

Wow, I've discovered I'm not the only one who's noticed this....

Another Batman movie nutcase arrested with guns, this one in Ohio
Scott Smith, 37, was arrested Saturday night for allegedly bringing guns into a movie theater screening of "The Dark Knight Rises."

Smith reportedly arrived in the Regal Westlake theater about an hour early for a 10 p.m. movie, and sat down in the back row, according to Fox-5.

A movie theater manager was suspicious of Smith's bag when he entered the theater, CBS-10 reports.

The Regal employee and an off-duty police officer serving as a security guard then searched the bag, where they found a loaded 9mm handgun, with two additional ammunition magazines and three knives, according to Fox-8.

Gunfire Fundraiser In Kansas City Suburbs

KCTV5 human interest and aftermath after a firearm accident: "It's been six months since Howe, now 14, was accidentally shot in the head. She spent 72 hours in a coma after surgery . . . But even miracles can get expensive. Alyssa's medical bills have started to come in. She's been through months of therapy. Friends and family wanted to help. Saturday's Alyssa Howe fundraiser featured breakfast, lunch, a bake sale and a charity bike ride."

Isn't it ridiculous that people have to have fundraisers and bake sales to give kids the health care they need?

Why Is The GOP Working To Make Health Insurance More Expensive For Working Families?

In a recent post, we explained how Republicans’ pathological opposition to health care reform is motivated by the GOP’s fear that reform will demonstrate that government can be successful in improving the lives of everyday Americans. Because of this fear, conservatives have sought to derail President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) through lawsuits, 31 separate and pointless votes by House Republicans to repeal the law, refusals by GOP Governors to implement various portions of the law, and more than a quarter-of-a-billion in advertising attacking the law.

Today’s post will look at perhaps the most cynical branch of the GOP’s anti-health care reform effort – the refusal of various Republican-led states to develop health insurance exchanges.  Now read the story....

Democrat Secy of State Candidate Jason Kander pressing flesh at Sedalia at the State Fair a week ago.
Jason KanderJason Kander, is an American attorney and a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives.  He has represented the 44th district, which includes parts of Jackson County, since 2009.

Why should we vote for him?   Because he's a democrat.  Never vote for a Republican Secretary of State....they have a funny way of throwing elections towards  their party candidates!

This is how the Republicans expect to win the swing states for their rich guy

Vermont farmer crushes 7 police cars with tractor over pot arrest

A Vermont farmer used his tractor to crush seven Orleans County Sheriff’s Department squad cars on a week ago because he was angry about being arrested on marijuana charges last month.

“It’s more than half our fleet,” Chief Deputy Sheriff Phil Brooks explained to the Burlington Free Press. “We have 11 cars.”

Roger Pion, 34, allegedly flattened five marked cruisers and two unmarked vehicles, including a van used for transporting prisoners. A car belonging the the department’s bookkeeper was also damaged as the tractor pushed it to clear a path to the squad cars.

“It was a massive tractor,” Newport Express Publisher Ken Wells told the Free Press. “It has four six-foot tandem wheels on the back. It was red. It must be at least a 15-ton tractor.”
“It’s pretty much the biggest tractor you can get,” Police Chief Seth DiSanto agreed.

The suspect ditched the tractor about two miles from the crime scene and then fled on foot before being apprehended, according to WCAX. He has been turned over to the Vermont State Police.

Pion was previously arrested on July 3 for marijuana possession and resisting arrest
