OH shit, Whats this Iran-Strait of Hormuz shit? Bullshit or prelude to war?

Tensions in the Gulf could reach a breaking point as a senior Iranian official said Iran would “definitely” close the Strait of Hormuz if an EU oil embargo disrupted the export of crude oil.

Mohammad Kossari, deputy head of parliament's foreign affairs and national security committee, issued the warning in respone to a decision by the European Union on Monday to impose an oil embargo on Iran over the country’s alleged nuclear weapons program.

“The pressure of sanctions is designed to try and make sure that Iran takes seriously our request to come to the table,” EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said.

However, with Washington’s decision to deploy a second carrier strike group in the Gulf, the EU’s attempt to pressure Iran economically could greatly increase the likelihood of all-out war in the region.

Seriously Rman, the Iranian Navy has about as much chance of closing the straight of Hormuz as Tony Botello has of establishing a meaningful relationship with Jordon Carver.

It ain't gonna happen.

I've read that they COULD close it for a short time...they have a lot of ground to ship weapons, small boats, even subs. ALl capable hurting our big sitting ducks. Remember what those little airplanes did to our sitting ducks at Pearl Harbor. And the Falklands, brits losing their flagship? The Iranians have bought a lot of Russian made assets, haven't they?

Eh...

We would hurt them big time very fast.

Let's not forget the United States has a giant military/industrial/security complex that must maintain production of war materials of all kinds. Therefore there must be a war going on to send supplies to.

Just think how many Americans would be out of work if Raytheon, General Dynamics, Boeing, Lockheed-Martin and L3 did not have a war to produce their products for.
