Perry to run for Pastor of the United States

Gov. Rick Perry reportedly plans to announce on Saturday that he is running for president. Citing unnamed sources familiar with the plan, Politico reported on Monday that the governor will use a speech in Charleston, S.C., to “remove any doubt about” his plans.

He is likely to make a formal declaration in Texas, perhaps in Houston next week.

The long-anticipated announcement will come the same day as the Iowa straw poll, a campaign ritual that tests the name recognition and organizational capabilities of the GOP candidates. As an unannounced candidate, Perry is not on the straw-poll ballot, but a group called “Americans for Rick Perry” has been urging Iowans to make him their write-in candidate.
