Michele Bachmann Pledges to Have the EPA’s “Doors Locked and Lights Turned Off”

This woman is astounding. And dangerous. The EPA is how we got lead out of fuel, eliminating a significant cause of childhood brain damage. The EPA enforces countless laws that protect our food, water and air from toxic chemicals. Any leader who advocates eliminating the EPA is not fit for public office. -- comment

Texas Gov Rick Perry is presently on a blitz to become the GOP presidential nominee, and he's already making all sorts of false claims about his experience with jobs (here's our latest on that) and saying various wild Rick Perry things. But here's one of his more startling offhanded comments, made last night while campaigning in Iowa. Talking about the Federal Reserve, he said, "I don't know what y'all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. WEST ALLIS, Wis. (WLS/AP) - The investigation into 11 of the violent incidents on the opening night of the Wisconsin State Fair has resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old African-American who reportedly told investigators he targeted whites.

West Allis police said Thursday the teen was arrested late Wednesday. The Milwaukee teen was booked on suspicion of attempted robbery and robbery. Police recommend that he face additional penalties for hate crimes.

Police say the teen told investigators whites were chosen because he considered them "easy targets."

On opening night of the fair last week, 31 people were arrested and at least 11 people were hurt. The West Allis Police Department has said race was a factor in the 11 violent incidents it's investigating.

An Arab student studying in Europe writes his dad:

Dear Dad

Berlin is wonderful, people are nice and I really
like it here, but Dad, I am a bit ashamed to arrive
at my college with my pure-gold Ferrari 599GTB
when all my teachers and many fellow students
travel by train.

Your son, Nasser

The next day, Nasser gets a reply to his e-mail
from his dad:

My dear loving son

Twenty million US Dollars has just been transferred
to your account. Please stop embarrassing us.
Go and get yourself a train too.
