A Gallup poll released Friday showed that 53 percent of Americans believe that same-sex marriage should be recognized by law with the same rights as traditional marriages. One particularly interesting result from the poll: More people support same-sex marriage between younger partners than they do between older partners.  Read it at Gallup

Icy - US Israeli relations.  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met privately with President Obama in the oval office in a frank talk.  The Israeli bluntly told Obama his vision for the borders of a future Palestinian state would leave the Jewish state with an "indefensible" frontier. Obama had suggested Israel back off to its 1967 borders.

Reax:  Democratic senior statesman Ed Koch says Israel is facing its most dangerous and critical period” and he is ready to break with his party in the next presidential election over Obama policies on the Middle East.  Mitt Romney said that President Obama has "once again thrown Israel under the bus."

A book entitled ‘Area 51′  is creating a lot of buzz because in it, Annie Jacobsen reports that the infamous Roswell UFO crash wasn’t a UFO, but a spy plane sent by the USSR. It had crashed during an electrical storm. As far as the report of there being alien bodies strewn about…well, Jacobsen claims to have uncovered that these were “alien-like children” who were piloting the craft. Apparently they were sent to the US to create a HG Wells type of panic.  More from Ghosttheory

Wednesday night poll on MSNBC's Ed show:  Are Republicans (and certain Democrats) looking out for you, or for big oil?     Answer:  Big Oil: 99.1%        Me: 0.9%    (2,587 voted)

An interesting viewer comment:  Duh!  The real question is can the truth withstand the barrage of lies that will be told to gain control of the government.

Newt's just having a horrible week.... hit with glittery confetti by a protester Tuesday during a hotel appearance at a book-signing. The man approached Newt and his wife in Minneapolis, dumped a cracker box full of colorful confetti on the pair and said, "Feel the rainbow, Newt! Stop the hate! Stop anti-gay politics!"  Just 2 days ago Gingrich was dressed down by an Iowa Republican for trashing the GOP plan to kill Medicare

The french big shot---an earlier assault on a maid?  As Dominique Strauss-Kahn sits under suicide watch at Rikers Island on charges of attempted rape, a Mexican newspaper reports allegations that he also assaulted a maid in Mexico. Meanwhile, the U.S. Treasury Secretary leads the calls for the IMF chief to resign. Read the latest at The Daily Beast.

Meanwhile, Ben Stein (Buehler?  Buehler? and Republican moneyguy) suggested Strauss-Kahn's too old and fat to force himself on a chambermaid... all but accused HER, saying he's run into crazy maids before, himself.  That's going after the victim before the trial.  OMG!

Disagreements brewing over a sport's writer's revelation that Paul Splittorff is gravely ill.  The issue is whether families have a right to keep bad news suppressed when the individual is a broadcaster and public figure, like a beloved baseball star. Are broadcasters rightfully indignant over a breach of privacy, or just sucking up to the sports industry and the players whose goodwill they require to get daily stories?   More on this from KC's Bottom Line blog.

The Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday that Royals' Hall of Fame pitcher and broadcaster Paul Splittorff has died due to complications from melanoma.
"The all-time winningest pitcher in franchise history passed away Wednesday morning 5/26 at the family home in Blue Springs," the team's news release said. Splittorff played with the Royals from 1970 to 1984.

So we have two sex scandals working, the IMF bigshot from France and Arnold who fathered a baby of one of his employees ten years ago.  Drudge Reports CNN ran a story on political sex scandals, including Clinton, Gingrich, bathroom stall senator Craig and others... but CNN somehow forgot CNN TALKER Eliot Spitzer who had a high dollar hooker and left the NY Gov's office....  Hmmm!

Gingrich
Some in the media--even Fox-- are already writing an OBIT for Newt Gingrich's presidential hopes, saying he committed suicide by foot and mouth disease... this for going against Paul Ryan's Medicare gutting.  Gingrich had called it radical on Meet the Press.  Said he was confused by the NBC show's adversarial nature.  Meantime, MSNBC's Chris Matthews said the show host David Gregory (right)  isn't 'adversarial', but right down the middle.  (Yeah, right!)  Newt called Ryan to apologize on Tuesday.  Even so, the media tastes the blood and Newt is about to be eaten alive.

JON STEWART lectures Bill O'REILLY!  Fox's Bill O'Reilly still pounding on Fox's manufactured controversy over "Common", a rap artist invited to the White House.... O'Reilly indignant because of a past song he sang.  "O'Reilly has Jon Stewart on and they went head to head on it.  (link: O'Reilly-Stewart video)
